A Garda who sustains an injury while preforming his/her duties, may be able to bring a personal injury* claim under the Garda Siochana (Compensation) Act.
Such claims are limited injuries which have been:
(a) maliciously inflicted while a Garda is in the performance of their duties or
(b) maliciously inflicted in the general capacity of a member of an Garda Siochana when off duty;
(c) which have been maliciously inflicted because they are members of An Garda Siochana.
All claims must be submitted to the Garda Compensation Section within three months of the date of the incident. Late claims must get the approval of the Minister. Dependants of Garda who have been fatally injured can also make a claim, provided

What information should I bring to my consultation?
